Quick
answers.
Do I need root access?+
No. The proxy works without root. Automatic rotation may require one-time Digital Assistant or ADB setup on some devices.
Must the phone and computer share a network?+
Yes. Your computer connects to the phone over Wi‑Fi or USB LAN, while 8PROXY routes outgoing traffic through the SIM’s cellular network.
Which address should I use?+
Use the address shown in the app, such as 192.168.110.99:8888, or 8proxy.local:8888 when your client supports mDNS.
How do I install the browser extension?+
Install it from the Chrome Web Store with one click on “Add to Chrome”. Docs has the full setup instructions.
Can I connect multiple devices?+
Yes. They must be able to reach the phone on the local network and use the configured credentials.
Does IP rotation disconnect Wi‑Fi?+
The mobile-data method keeps Wi‑Fi active. Airplane-mode methods may briefly interrupt the local connection.
Does the app run in the background?+
Yes. The native core, foreground service, and WakeLock keep the proxy and rotation timer running after the UI closes.
